Three weeks ago, a feral dog that residents called “Brownie” was captured, and immediately described by municipal officials as “uncontrollable and aggressive toward people.”
It seemed the male stray that spent nearly a year on the local streets and braved bitter-cold winter nights was not suitable for adoption after it was seized by municipal officials and shot with a tranquilizer gun by a Paterson police officer on March 27.
But the hound is getting a chance to tame his “wild” ways. Certified Animal Behavior Counselor Adena Misiewicz brought the dog to her Bellevue Avenue home and began rehabilitating it over the last two weeks.
She said the black-and-brown-coated pooch with a white muzzle, that is nearly 3 years old and may be a mix of Swiss mountain and boxer, should be suitable for adoption in about a month, Misiewicz said.
